  Which designers/brands/labels performed well for you? Luxury brands saw strong performance, specifically Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, and Gucci. As we noted above, there is a shift in focus as our customer is prioritizing pieces with longevity that they can wear forever. Also: Wardrobing brands that have honed their craft in creating everyday basics with a fashion-forward point of view. Brands such as Nili Lotan, Totême, Khaite, Tove, and Gabriela Hearst really mastered this. They brought us knitwear with iconic and instantly recognizable pieces, such as Tove’s Ceres dress, Khaite’s sweetheart ribbed sweater, Totême’s quilted coat.   The U.S.’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout is in full—albeit sometimes faltering—swing, with 15% of the population currently vaccinated as of March 1. In states like New York and Texas, where many people are vaccine-eligible based on comorbidities like obesity or asthma, it can feel (erroneously or not) like every other person on Instagram is suddenly being vaccinated, creating a sense of “vaccine envy” in many who are still waiting. When I received my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine last week, I cried without knowing why. I chalked it up to exhaustion and nerves, but now I realize how much my carefully guarded negativity had steeled me against the possibility that anything good might happen. I’m proud of my pessimism, because it got me through, but I might be ready to part with it, too.   What about from the other end of the market, for big brands? Because, again, everybody needs to get better at this. How do you see that happening? I think for big brands it’s harder, because if they’re a huge brand they’ve been running a longer time, and it means there’s a company culture that will take a long time to undo. It can’t just be a media or marketing ploy to say, “We’re going to be sustainable now.” You have to implement positive change and good practice at every level. So I think it will take a while, but they can look at their own inventories, what they have left over, and look at who they can bring in to rework that. It could be an opportunity to work with a smaller designer. London’s got some great ones—so they can take their pick!   You have great style. Fashion-wise, what are you into at the moment?Thank you. I listen to a lot of ’70s and ’80s music, so that plays a big part in it. I’m also into oversized suits [right now]. When it comes to designers, one of the favorites is Martin Margiela—a lot of his archive pieces rock! Obviously Hedi Slimane is up there for me too, so it was a real privilege to work for him. I also like Vivienne Westwood and what she does. What’s your favorite part about modeling? What have been some of your favorite jobs? I’ve met some amazing people through modeling, and it also means I get to travel a lot, which is fun. As I want to work in fashion, it’s also meant I’ve made a lot of good connections.
